How the Dezervator Actually Works, and Why It Is Not Alone

The Dezervator's basic promise, drive into a residential tower and end up parked next to your living room, gets repeated often enough that the actual engineering behind it rarely gets explained. Here's how it genuinely works, and why Sunny Isles Beach's two car-elevator towers may soon have real company.

The Mechanics, Not Just the Concept

Each Dezervator lift rises at 800 feet per minute, using a hydraulic system paired with RFID tags that automatically identify a resident's vehicle and load it, driver and passengers still inside, directly onto the platform before carrying it to their floor. Porsche Design Tower runs three of these lifts across its 132 units. Bentley Residences will run four, serving 216 residences, with units built to hold up to four cars each and at least one penthouse garage sized for 14.

The architect behind both buildings, Sieger Suarez, has described the ride itself as almost anticlimactic given the speed, smooth and controlled enough that riders barely register how fast they're actually moving.

A Genuine Cultural Moment, Not Just an Amenity

One Porsche Design Tower resident's video of pulling his car into the building's elevator has drawn close to 50 million views online, a level of attention that's unusual for a residential amenity and speaks to why developers keep building around this concept. It's become as much a status signal as a functional feature.

The Category Is Widening Beyond Sunny Isles

Dezer Development pioneered the branded-tower concept in Sunny Isles BeachMore Info with Trump-named buildings, then PorscheMore Info, then BentleyMore Info, and the idea has since spread well beyond one developer or one stretch of coastline. Mercedes-BenzMore Info has announced plans for a 67-story condo and hotel project in Brickell in partnership with JDS Development, part of a broader wave of automotive and luxury-brand towers that now also includes Aston Martin ResidencesMore Info in Downtown MiamiMore Info. Sunny Isles Beach's two Dezervator towers may end up being the opening chapter of a genuinely new category in South Florida development, not a two-building novelty.
